Stronger Together: Celebrating 20 Years of Curves Hampton

Twenty years ago, Curves Hampton opened its doors with a simple but powerful mission: to create a supportive space where women could become stronger… physically, emotionally, and together.

As we celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, I’ve found myself reflecting on just how much this community means to so many women… including me.

My own Curves journey began when I was just 16 years old, attending the club alongside my mum. Back then, I never imagined I’d one day become the owner. But when the club faced closure following the challenges of the pandemic, stepping in to save it felt deeply personal.

Two days before the doors were due to close for good, I took over the business, and honestly, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Today, Curves Hampton has grown into a thriving community, with members of all ages and fitness levels walking through the doors every week. Some have been with Curves for many years, others are just beginning their journey, but what connects everyone is the feeling of encouragement, support, and belonging.

At Curves, we often say we’re more than a fitness club, we’re a family! And after 20 years in Hampton, I truly believe that.

What makes Curves special is that it’s designed specifically for women. Our 30-minute circuit combines strength training, cardio, and stretching into one coach-supported workout that adapts to each individual woman. Whether someone is returning to exercise, rebuilding confidence, managing health challenges, or simply wanting time for themselves, Curves meets them where they are.

But the real magic has always been the women themselves.

The friendships.
The encouragement.
The coaches who cheer you on.
The feeling of being seen and supported.

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we want to give something meaningful back to the community that has supported us for so many years.

That’s why we’ve launching our Stronger Together Initiative.

We’re inviting local people to nominate a woman who would truly benefit from a fully funded 12-month Curves membership. Whether she’s faced a difficult season, lost confidence, put herself last for too long, or simply deserves support and encouragement - we want to hear her story.

A select few of nominated women will receive a full year’s membership, helping make fitness, wellbeing, and community more accessible when it’s needed most.

Because strength looks different for every woman.
And sometimes the strongest thing we can do is support each other.

A New Home for Healing and Collaboration: CSRI Academy at The Nexus Holistic Education Centre

I recently had the joy of attending the launch of a brand-new home for Inspired Woman Mariann Freed’s CSRI Training Academy, now based at The Nexus Holistic Education Centre in Shepperton.

The Nexus is a beautiful and tranquil retreat space created by Jo Woods and her husband Tom at their family home on Walton Lane Farm. Surrounded by gardens, horses, and picturesque countryside, the centre offers a welcoming sanctuary for workshops, day retreats, and short events, while also providing short-term accommodation upstairs for professionals working locally, including those at Shepperton Studios.

Mariann’s CSRI Academy of Excellence has now found a perfect home here. The Academy offers world-class teaching in Cranio-Sacral Reflexology Faure-Alderson®️, training reflexologists across the UK and internationally to a high standard of skill, confidence, and care.

As Mariann explains: “Our mission is not only to provide exceptional training in the field of reflexology but also to foster a community of like-minded individuals who share our commitment to promoting health, wellness, and self-awareness.”

The launch event, which I attended with fellow Inspired Woman Erica Ferrar, was a wonderful celebration of both Mariann’s teaching and Jo’s vision for The Nexus as a collaborative wellness hub. With exciting plans for retreats and workshops already in conversation, including some potential Inspired Women collaborations next year, the opening of The Nexus marks the start of something special for Shepperton and beyond.

The Swish is Back! Refresh Your Wardrobe, Support Your Community!

We’re so excited to bring The Swish back to Hampton this autumn!

Join us on Saturday 11th October, 4–7pm at The Inspired Hub for an afternoon of fun, fashion, and community spirit.

What is a Swish?
A Swish is a fun and sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe while supporting your community.

Here’s how it works:

Bring What You Can – Bring 1–10 items of good quality clothing, shoes, or accessories. Women’s, men’s, and children’s items are all welcome (clean and in good condition).

Check-In & Fashion Show – Drop off your items at the check-in desk and then grab a seat for our fashion show before the Swish begins!

Tokens = Treasures – For each item you bring, you’ll receive a token. Exchange your tokens for “new-to-you” pieces once the Swish opens.

Ready, Set, Swish! – When the countdown finishes, everyone gets to browse the rails and tables. Spend your tokens on pieces you love!

Fair Play & Fitting Rooms – First come, first served, and yes, there’ll be fitting rooms so you can try things on.

Giving Back: Supporting Local Projects

Entry to The Swish is just £5, and every pound goes into the Inspired Women Fundraising Pot.

This pot supports:
RUILS – an incredible local charity empowering disabled children and adults to live independent lives.

Hub Help & Services Project – a new Hampton Inspired Hub initiative supporting local residents with everyday challenges. Whether it’s feeling nervous about having people in your home, needing trusted and reasonable traders, wanting a chaperone for peace of mind, or struggling to afford small but important jobs — the Hub can help with signposting, support, and even subsidies.

So when you Swish, you’re not only refreshing your wardrobe, you’re directly supporting your neighbours and community.

✨ Save the date: Saturday 11th October, 4–7pm at Hampton Inspired Hub.
